the hardest semester of my life is finally over. had my last translation class yesterday evening, the one with my teacher who is literally a genius and was a child prodigy of language, the one who seriously wrote a full on published book about my final paper topic, the one who never ever EVER makes a mistake in any language, English or Chinese (Mandarin, Taiwanese, or Cantonese dialect).
and then yesterday, during the last hour of class it happened: he made an English mistake on the board. I’m pretty sure I’m the only one who noticed it, cause I was the sole English speaker present, but it definitely happened. During our discussion of aspirated vs non aspirated sounds, he used “face” and “vase” as examples, but he spelled the latter “vace”. It’s a small error, but I’ll take it!! This dude really kicked my ass this semester and it was seriously one of the most self-satisfying moments ever to witness this guy make a mistake. I just had to take a picture. It’s a good reminder anyways, peoples is peoples, even if it doesn’t feel that way until the last day of term.
